To enjoy our Thursday nights we have our comedy show ‘The Big Bang Theory’.
The story of this humorous series revolves around lives of geeks, Leonard and Sheldon who are physicists with high IQ levels and Ph.Ds. The twist in the story comes when the gorgeous looking waitress, Penny comes in their life as a neighbor and brings them out of their science and technological world.
Last episode of The Big Bang Theory, named “The Herb Garden Germination” that was aired on 7th April 2011 made us laugh with the funny moments as Amy and Sheldon experiment on the gang by gossiping. Viewers also saw a major turn in Howard and Bernadette’s relationship even after the failed attempt of living in together. If you missed it better catch with it before next episode. Upcoming episode of “The Big Bang Theory” will be aired on 28th April 2011. The episode is “The Agreement Dissection” which will show your geek Sheldon dancing with the girls. When The Big Bang Theory started, it was a story of four geek friends and their cute waitress neighbor, Penny. In “The Herb Garden Germination” we saw, for the first time, a new social circle fully formed, including Amy, Bernadette and even Priya.
Up until this point, the newcomers existed more as outsiders because they maintained separate, individual relationships.
The use of gossip to show the interconnectedness of the group ended up being quite funny. At first, I was worried that the Howard-Bernadette gossip was going to end up resolving in the overdone manner of someone mentioning it at the wrong time.
But, Howard never heard the gossip. The episode and gossip theme worked for me when the story instead lead to the experiment by Amy and Sheldon. That created some funny moments, especially when Leonard was using the gossip to try and get Sheldon to tell him what happened with Amy without specifically mentioning the gossip.
And, Amy being on skype listening – perfect.
The humor on this show usually is tied into the characters love of technology, science fiction and other geekery. I appreciated this episode, because it revolved around a common issue – gossip, yet it was handled in a manner unique to this specific social circle.
One complaint I have about the show is the lack of continuity between episodes. Last week, Leonard and Priya weren’t getting along all that well, but this week everything seemed fine. In some ways, they seemed better than fine.
When they were in the bathroom together, I saw them as a couple and for the first time liked them together. I never thought I would, regardless I still think Leonard and Penny will end up back together.
It was nice to see Penny around Leonard without them being concerned about Priya. When the two of them were taking the long walk up the stairs, I actually forgot that they weren’t dating anymore. As different as they are, they just mesh perfectly.
The only part I didn’t find funny was the opening scene with Sheldon and Amy.
It went on too long. By the end, I thought I was watching two robots spout boring scientific jibberjabber to each other. While I do enjoy this pairing, too much of it is not a good thing.
I’m not sure what to make of Howard and Bernadette’s engagement. After their failed trial run living together, it seemed a bit odd that Howard would propose and that she would accept. I’m looking forward to seeing how it plays out, as I foresee some very funny moments.

For the third time this year, Chuck Lorre made a reference to the awkward situation between him and Charlie Sheen on a vanity card. The producer first did so on “Two and a Half Men” in which he said, “If Charlie Sheen outlives me, I’m gonna be really pissed”. Then again in early March through “Mike & Molly“. Lorre has just delivered his latest message through “The Big Bang Theory“.
Lorre, who is one of the creators of the Thursday comedy, did not call Sheen by name but it was obvious which issue he was addressing. It begins with, “Whenever I’ve gone through tough times, well-meaning people have told me that God/the universe does not give us more than we can handle. Well, I’ve been going through a tough time recently, and sure enough, that old saying has been tossed my way on several morose occasions. After some careful consideration, I’ve decided it’s bull$#*!.”
Lorre continued, “As an aphorism, it only makes sense in hindsight – after you’ve managed to crawl from the wreckage of whatever calamity that God/the universe decided to toss your way. No one ever uses it to comfort someone who’s been hit by a bus or turned into a puddle of goo by flesh-eating bacteria (although in the right circumstance, that could be a hoot).”
“Another thing I hear a lot is, ‘this too shall pass.’ Again, I know these are words meant to reassure, but somehow they always leave me feeling that heartbreak, rage and grief are going to come shooting out of me like kidney stones through an inflamed urethra. For someone in crisis, I think a more accurate and helpful assessment of reality would be, ‘Love, sex, food, friendship, art, play, beauty and the simple pleasure of a cup of tea are all well and good, but never forget that God/the universe is determined to kill you by whatever means necessary.’ Consider trying that next time you’re called on to do some consoling.”
“If you’re feeling impish, you might also try, ‘According to the rules of comedy, your suffering will be funny after an undetermined length of time. Maybe not while you’re having your gangrenous leg sawed off, watching your home burn down or learning how to be intimate with your cellmate, but, in the big scheme of things, soon’.”

“The Big Bang Theory” is going to reach a new milestone on April 7 episode. One of the guys would propose to his love interest and “the couple will probably eventually get married”, executive producer Bill Prady told TV Guide.
Prady refused to name names but hinted that it would either be Leonard and Priya or Sheldon and Amy or Howard and Bernadette. Speaking of the possibility of Leonard popping the question to Raj’s sister, Prady said, “Leonard joining the Koothrappali family would affect a lot of relationships in an interesting way.” Moreover, actor Johnny Galecki said previously that Leonard’s relationship with Priya “makes sense [for] the characters”.
As for Sheldon and his “girl friend” Amy, Prady said, “Sheldon feels his one and only true love is science. So this would represent a paradigm shift in our cognitive appreciation of the universe.” Mayim Bialik who plays Amy hinted to Poptimal last week, saying “There is going to be more of the same, but we get to see new aspects that will shock them both along with the audience.”
Meanwhile, Prady’s explanation of Howard and Bernadette is “Howard’s a mama’s boy, but he has always wanted to be a husband and dad.” Simon Helberg commented, “You would never think he would be the first. If that happens, it will probably get screwed up.”
The April 7 episode is titled “The Herb Garden Germination“.
