When The Big Bang Theory returns with a new episode, “The Psychic Vortex,” on January 11th, we’re in for one heck of a surprise. In one of the most unlikeliest of adventures, Raj and Sheldon head out to a University mixer together where they meet two women.
It looks like with Wolowitz in a relationship, Raj is forced to take on one of the worst imaginable wingmen, Sheldon. However, by some miracle, the two of them manage to meet Martha (Jen Drohan) and Abby (Danica McKellar).
If that weren’t impressive enough, Raj and Sheldon manage to take the two lucky ladies back to their place for a night of Rock Band. Hopefully our wishes will come true and Raj will get over his inability to speak in front of women. We certainly wouldn’t mind having our childhood crush, Winnie, joining The Big Bang Theory cast.
Meanwhile, Penny and Leonard will enjoy their usual storyline of fighting. This time the two will bicker when he finds out that she believes in pyschics.

Former Wonder Years darling Danica McKellar, who played Kevin’s neighbor-crush, Winnie, has grown up into one gorgeous nerd. She’s got a best-selling line of math books (the third comes out in August) and a collection of Star Wars memorabilia (including a life-size Stormtrooper) at the condo she shares with her new hubby, film composer Mike Verta.
So what better gig for her than CBS’ geek-friendly The Big Bang Theory, where she’ll make beautiful music with Rajesh (Kunal Nayyar) on the January 11 episode? “I play Abby, a sweet and social grad student at Cal Tech who is fascinated by India,” Danica says. “I get to play Rock Star with the boys.”
Just how nerdy was the set? “They had a bunch of copies of my math books for me to sign, and the first thing they asked me to do was rattle off the first 10 numbers of pi.” That’s easy. 3.14…9-0-2-1-0?
Does it take a brainiac to play a brainiac? No, of course not. But when Danica McKellar guests on The Big Bang Theory on January 11, that’s what they’ll get. Not only is Danica well-remembered as the nearly-perfect Winnie Cooper on The Wonder Years, Kevin’s neighbor and the girl he always adored, she’s also smart as a whip. She has the degrees to prove it.
A couple of years ago, TV Squad put Danica In the Limelight. Ryan learned that Danica had graduated Summa cum Laude from UCLA with a degree in Mathematics. She is the McKellar in the Chayes-McKellar-Winn Theorem.
I’m no genius, but I do like the symmetry of the former Winnie Cooper meeting the present Dr. Sheldon Cooper. Could this be a love connection? I’d like to think so, because thus far — and I fairly certain of this — Sheldon is the only one of the four guys who’s yet to get some booty. At least that we know of. Perhaps we’re going to discover that Sheldon has had multiple partners of the carnal variety, but if so they’ve all been off-screen.
There’s hope for Sheldon, too, because listen to what Danica told the TV Guide: “I play Abby, a grad student at Cal Tech. She’s the love interest for one of the characters.” Could it be Dr. Cooper? The picture kinda looks like they’re together — they’re touching.
By the way, this isn’t Danica’s first foray into CBS Monday night sitcomland. Remember the How I Met Your Mother episode, “The Pineapple Incident”? Of course you do. Danica was the girl that Ted woke up with the morning after the incident.
