Give the ‘Big Bang Theory’ Stars a Raise Now

Posted by: admin | Comments (0)

060410 1836 GivetheBigB1 Give the Big Bang Theory Stars a Raise NowBy any measurement, CBS’s ‘The Big Bang Theory‘ is a big hit. Therefore, it should come as no surprise that ‘The Big Bang Theory’s’ three leads are asking for a raise.

Johnny Galecki, Kaley Cuoco and Jim Parsons have teamed up to get Warner Bros., which produces the show for CBS, to share the profits they’re reaping.

According Forbes.com, the threesome are currently making $65,000 per episode. They’re asking for a bump in salary to $250,000 per episode. That’s a 285% increase, but is it really out of line?

No, it’s not. In fact, here’s four good reasons why WB — in conjunction with CBS — should make it happen now.

1. Reward the stars for the show’s success.
If not for the stars, ‘The Big Bang Theory’ would not be a hit. It’s only fair that Parsons, Galecki and Cuoco be rewarded for their part in making this program a success.

This happens all the time in business, so why not in television? Sharing the wealth at this point will also build solidarity with these actors for years to come.

2. Compared to other stars, they’re worth it.
Without question, Sheldon, Leonard and Penny are as important to ‘Big Bang’ as Charlie Harper is to ‘Two and a Half Men.’ That said, aren’t the actors playing those roles commensurate with Charlie Sheen in terms of making ‘Big Bang’ succeed? They are.

You cannot imagine ‘Big Bang’ without those actors as those characters. If WB and CBS can justify the kind of dough they’ve been dishing out for Sheen — including the recent two-year deal that was reportedly $1.8 million per episode — the $250K for the ‘BBT’ three seems like a bargain.

3. In the long run, they’re going to be paid. Recently, ‘The Big Bang Theory’ powers the be made an historic syndication deal — so rich the terms were not disclosed. You can count on seeing ‘Bang’ on CBS for years to come. Even if the move to Thursday at 8PM doesn’t work out, it’ll return to Monday, and run at least as long as ‘Two and Half Men’ or ‘Everybody Loves Raymond’ before it.

Therefore, it’s inevitable that all the people involved, all the stars, will be paid. Why not make good deals now and spread the cost over the years? It makes sense.

4. They shouldn’t risk bad blood.
This show will never be the same if any one of the big three stars exits the show. If an increase in pay can ensure a better working relationship and a fertile creative experience all around, it behooves WB to keep everyone happy and pay the stars. Historically, nothing good comes from letting the stars gripe about being underpaid.

Remember when Delta Burke complained about her status on ‘Designing Women’ to the detriment of the show’s run? Even the ‘Friends‘ airing their contract disputes in public was negative. It would be great to see WB and the stars of ‘Big Bang Theory’ keep things convivial and positive.

The Big Bang Theory – Danica McKellar

Posted by: admin | Comments (0)

Former Wonder Years darling Danica McKellar, who played Kevin’s neighbor-crush, Winnie, has grown up into one gorgeous nerd. She’s got a best-selling line of math books (the third comes out in August) and a collection of Star Wars memorabilia (including a life-size Stormtrooper) at the condo she shares with her new hubby, film composer Mike Verta.

So what better gig for her than CBS’ geek-friendly The Big Bang Theory, where she’ll make beautiful music with Rajesh (Kunal Nayyar) on the January 11 episode? “I play Abby, a sweet and social grad student at Cal Tech who is fascinated by India,” Danica says. “I get to play Rock Star with the boys.”

Just how nerdy was the set? “They had a bunch of copies of my math books for me to sign, and the first thing they asked me to do was rattle off the first 10 numbers of pi.” That’s easy. 3.14…9-0-2-1-0?

“I play Abby, a grad student at Cal Tech,” teases the actress, who turns 35 on Jan. 10. “She’s the love interest for one of the characters.”

Who? I’ll give you a hint — it’s not Penny.

The Big Bang Theory – Casting News

Posted by: admin | Comments (0)

considering how excited Sheldon (Jim Parsons) was about an autographed napkin with Leonard Nimoy’s DNA, how will he react when he meets Wil Wheaton on The Big Bang Theory? Not as you’d expect. “As much as Sheldon loves Star Trek, Wil Wheaton is the only person associated with the franchise whom Sheldon has sworn eternal enmity toward,” says Wil.

During Star Trek: TNG’s run, many Trekkers opposed having a boy on the bridge of the USS Enterprise. But Wil says Sheldon’s hatred is “unrelated to the writing of the character I played.” In 1995, Sheldon had a disappointing autograph experience with Wil that left him seeking revenge.

“The Wil I play in the Big Bang universe is not such a nice person,” he says. “But in real life, I go out of my way to be kind and patient. My motto is: ‘Don’t be a d—!’”

The Big Bang Theory – Casting News

Posted by: admin | Comments (0)

Pretty much the last thing you’d expect of a cranium-straining show like The Big Bang Theory is a no-brainer, but correct me if I’m wrong: Its casting of The Daily Show smartass Lewis Black is exactly that.

The Comedy Central hothead will appear in the sitcom’s second episode of the season (airing on Sept. 28) as Professor Crawley, a Caltech entomologist whose life is a shambles. Worse—for him, anyway—it’s a shambles through which Sheldon and Wolowitz are happy to rummage for the sake of settling a bet.

Whad’ya think? Is Black’s guest gig a smarter move on his part or the series’? Sound off below!

Coming to The Big Bang Theory: Awkward Sex!

080909 1837 comingtothe1 Coming to The Big Bang Theory: Awkward Sex!

It’s been confirmed that Leonard and Penny will get together this fall on The Big Bang Theory.

But the relationship won’t exactly go smoothly, as executive producer Bill Prady told Entertainment Weekly’s Michael Ausiello in that magazine’s latest issue.

“When they finally [have sex], it doesn’t go so great,” he said. “There was so much anticipation that when they finally make it all the way, they have trouble finding their groove.”

Well, sure. Who among us hasn’t been there?!?

Also, Prady aded, “Sheldon does not like waking up to find Penny in their apartment.”
